Textbook photos to editable flashcards
This guide focuses on photo quality, extraction, and the review pass that turns OCR output into cards you will actually answer.
Most photo-to-text tools stop at OCR. You get a wall of extracted lines, not flashcards you would actually drill. This workflow gets you from a phone photo to approved cards—with a review pass where you fix readings, kill noise, and keep the deck tight.
How to do it
Work through one batch at a time. Finish review before you upload the next set of pages.

Photograph or screenshot only the sections you intend to study—not entire spreads with unrelated examples.

Upload the images to Cramblr from Jobs → Create import.

Wait for extraction to finish, then open review. Fix tone marks, split overloaded lines, tag by chapter.

Reject headings, worked examples, and duplicate prompts you will not memorize.

Approve a tight first batch before uploading the next chapter.

Export approved cards to APKG when you are ready to continue in Anki.
Quick check before you approve
- Every card front asks one question you can answer without guessing the intent.
- Thai readings match the source photo on disputed characters.
- No two approved cards test the same fact with slightly different wording.
When something goes wrong
Skewed pages
re-capture with the phone parallel to the page before re-running extraction.
Too many cards from one photo
crop tighter or reject non-testable lines in review.
Review fatigue
cap approvals per session and resume tomorrow instead of rubber-stamping.
