How to import an APKG file into Anki

After export, import the APKG into Anki carefully: check duplicates, deck placement, media, and the first few review cards before studying.

A reviewed APKG file lands in the right Anki deck without duplicate noise, missing media, or a broken first study session. Import is treated as the final QA step, not a blind download.

How to do it

Work through one batch at a time. Finish review before you upload the next set of pages.

Download the APKG export from Cramblr and keep the file name tied to the chapter, week, or source page.
Open Anki Desktop, then choose File → Import and select the .apkg file.
Review Anki's import summary before accepting: note count, media count, duplicate handling, and target deck.
Import into a small test deck or clearly named subdeck if this is your first batch from that source.
Open Browse and spot-check the imported fronts, backs, tags, and any attached images or audio.
Run a short review session with a conservative new-card limit before syncing to phone or tablet.

Quick check before you approve

The imported deck contains only approved cards, not drafts or rejected OCR fragments.
Tags and subdeck names match the organization you chose during Cramblr review.
The first few review cards show the expected Thai text, readings, glosses, and media.

When something goes wrong

Duplicate warning

cancel, inspect the existing deck, and re-export a smaller batch if needed.

Wrong deck placement

move the test subdeck before syncing rather than repairing every card later.

Missing media or broken fields

return to Cramblr review, fix the source cards, and export a fresh APKG.
